Bank of Tennessee Selected as Gold Level Recipient for Fit Friendly Worksite

Bank of Tennessee was recently presented with the American Heart Association Fit Friendly Worksite Gold Level Award. This award was given to businesses that are making the health and wellness of their employees a priority through the American Heart Association’s My Heart. My Life. initiative. Gold Level Recipients met a standard of criteria including offering employees physical activity support, increase the number of healthy eating options available to employees, promote a culture of wellness, etc.

“Bank of Tennessee has done an outstanding job implementing great initiatives that have led to amazing results,” said Joette Street, Regional Director for the Greater Southeast Affiliate of the American Heart Association. “For example, they provide personal trainers that oversee a walking club and two onsite fitness facilities that are available to all employees. Employees are encouraged to participate and are rewarded when they do.”

According to an October 2013 report on Workplace Health Promotion filed by the Centers for Disease Control, productivity losses related to personal and family health problems cost U.S. employers $1,685 per employee per year, or $225.8 billion annually.
