Posted: 12.18.2013
This past summer Bank of Tennessee and Carter County Bank generated support for their communities in an unusual, but fashionable method.
The banks recently presented checks to local Volunteer Fire Departments throughout Sullivan, Unicoi, and Washington counties, and to the Elizabethton/Carter County Community Foundation. The funds presented to these organizations were raised through sales of one-of-a-kind T-shirts that the bank created. The eleven t-shirts promoted community pride in 5 areas of Carter County, Erwin, Jonesborough, Colonial Heights, Blountville, Gray, and Sulphur Springs.
“Promoting our communities’ pride and heritage continues to be a key objective of Bank of Tennessee and Carter County Bank. And to be privileged to donate over $6,000 to worthy community agencies makes this endeavor even more enjoyable. We are local and we support our local businesses, families, and neighbors.” said Dale Fair, President of Bank of Tennessee and Carter County Bank.
“We also want to thank all the people who purchased the shirts. It’s through their purchases that these donations were possible,” Fair continued.
The fundraiser in Carter County provided $2,900 to The Elizabethton/Carter County Community Foundation. The foundation was established as a permanent endowment organization, and provides on-going resources to support programs and projects throughout Carter County to improve the community and address challenges for all Elizabethton and Carter County Citizens.
Local Volunteer Fire Departments, who fund their budgets through donations, grants and fundraisers, received over $3,400. Volunteer Fire Departments are composed of volunteers serving the Tri-Cities area to provide fire suppression and other emergency services.
