Network Assistant


General Job Summary:

Installs, evaluates, develops, maintains, troubleshoots and monitors the operations of both local and/or wide area networks. May also be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining the telecommunication system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Purchase, deploy, maintain, and support computer hardware, including printers and other computer related equipment.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot PC software applications
  • Deploy, maintain, and support mobile devices (e.g. BlackBerry, iPad)
  • Responsible for operating/maintaining various equipment
  • Setup, manage, execute and review data backups via Backup Exec software
  • Setup, test, and execute data recovery from backup tape via Backup Exec software
  • Train new users in bank IT systems and policies
  • Train users on newly utilized technologies
  • Review and manage security and intrusion prevention/detection software and respond to events
  • Manage web filtering tools such as OpenDNS, WebEX, and Microsoft ISA server
  • Create, manage, and troubleshoot email systems and accounts (e.g. Microsoft Exchange)
  • Setup, maintain, and troubleshoot user accounts using Active Directory software
  • Installing, upgrading, troubleshooting, and supporting WK ComplianceOne software
  • Installing, upgrading, troubleshooting, and supporting WK ARTA software
  • Setup, troubleshoot and repair teller printers (add master and Bankjet devices)
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and laser printers (personal desktop to heavy duty grade printers)
  • Track all work activity and bill appropriately using billing software
  • Evaluate needs of the business and suggest a technological solution
  • Research, plan, purchase, test, implement, and support new technical projects into the business environment
  • Deploy, maintain, and support mobile devices (Blackberry, iPad, VPN access)
  • Configure security settings for public and private file sharing
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues caused by DNS
  • Find, test, and release messages and files from email filtering system.
  • Maintain and modify global email filtering systems
  • Deploy, update, and configure anti-virus clients on all domain systems via Symantec EP management console
  • Review and initiate anti-virus scans from Symantec EP management console
  • Install and configure Dell open manage software to diagnose hardware errors and alerts
  • Push and review Microsoft and 3rd party software updates via update management systems (e.g. WSUS, GFI LanGuard, EminentWare)
  • Setup RAID storage array
  • Identify and replace failed disk in RAID storage array
  • Initiate and review rebuild of new and degraded RAID arrays
  • Thorough knowledge of computer hardware, including but not limited to notebooks, desktops, and servers
  • Perform most hardware repair, upgrade, and maintenance tasks on computer hardware, including but not limited to notebooks, desktops, and servers
  • Provide Tier II\III support for daily operations
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • One to three years of related experience required
