Email Scam

We have had reports that an email has been sent to individuals stating that the recipient's "BankTennessee ATM Card" had been suspended/cancelled and indicates that the reciepient should contact "BankTennessee" and provides a phone number and/or email address. The emails state that they are from BankTennessee, NOT Bank of Tennessee. These emails and phone numbers are not associated with Bank of Tennessee, but have been sent by unauthorized individuals who may be attempting a scam through a common technique called "phishing". The main thing phishing e-mail messages have in common is that they ask for personal data, or direct you to Web sites or phone numbers to call where they ask you to provide personal data. New FDIC Insurance Coverage Goes Into Effect

On May 20, 2009, President Barack Obama signed the Helping Families Save Their Homes Act, which extends the temporary increase in the standard maximum deposit insurance amount that applies to all deposit accounts to $250,000 per depositor through December 31, 2013. This extension of the temporary $250,000 coverage limit became effective immediately upon the President's signature. The legislation provides that the standard maximum deposit insurance amount will return to $100,000 on January 1, 2014.
